Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is one of the cornerstones of therapy. What you share in therapy stays between us, with some exceptions for legal requirements (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). I follow HIPAA regulations to ensure that your privacy is protected at all times.
What is therapy like?
Therapy is a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In our sessions, we will work together to identify patterns, understand the roots of your struggles, and develop strategies to improve your well-being. Every session is different, but you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental approach where you are heard and respected. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you!
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with challenges like anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or past trauma, therapy can help provide tools and insights to help you feel better! Therapy is also useful for personal growth, navigating life transitions, and improving communication or self-esteem. If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right step, I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation where we can discuss your concerns and explore how therapy might be able to support you.
How can therapy help me improve my relationship with myself or others?
Therapy helps you better understand your emotions, patterns of behavior, and communication styles. Whether you’re working on self-esteem, personal growth, or resolving conflict in your relationship, therapy provides a safe space to explore and heal these aspects of yourself and your interactions with others.
How do I get started?
To get started, simply reach out to me through the contact form on this website. We can schedule a free initial consultation, where we’ll discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether we’re a good fit for each other. I’m here to support you in whatever way feels right for you.
How long does each therapy session last?
Each session typically lasts 45-50 minutes. This is a standard length of time for individual and couples therapy, though we can adjust based on your needs. For example, longer sessions may be available upon request. Additionally, Intake sessions are a full 60 minutes.
How often should I attend therapy?
Most clients begin by attending therapy weekly/biweekly, especially in the initial stages. Over time, we may adjust the frequency of sessions based on your goals and progress. Many clients may transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as they continue to make progress.
What if I don’t feel like we’re a good fit after a few sessions?
It’s completely normal to wonder if a therapist is the right fit for you. If, after a few sessions, you feel that our work together isn’t resonating or you’d like to explore a different approach, please feel free to let me know! Comfort and trust are key to the success of therapy, and I am happy to refer you to a colleague if needed. I want you to always feel empowered to make the best decision for your mental health!
Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
Currently I only offer online therapy via a secure, HiPAA-compliant video platform. Online therapy is a convenient and effective option, especially for those with busy schedules or who prefer remote sessions.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual 50 minute session $140
Initial Individual 60 minute intake session: $190
Couples 50 minute session: $165
Initial Couples 60 minute intake session $215
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept payment through credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Payments are processed securely at the time of your session.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If you miss a session or cancel within 24 hours, there is a late cancellation fee of the full session price. This ensures that other clients have the opportunity to book that time slot.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not directly accept insurance at this time. However, I can provide you with a superbill (receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. It’s important to check with your insurance provider to confirm out-of-network reimbursement options.
What can I expect from our first session?
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask you about your background, current struggles, and goals for therapy. We’ll also discuss the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and how we’ll work together. The first session is about building trust, understanding your needs, and ensuring that you feel comfortable with the process moving forward.
How do I prepare for our first session?
To prepare for your first session, think about your current challenges, goals for therapy, and any questions you might have. It can be helpful to write down what you want to address or discuss, but there’s no need to worry about having a structured plan. You may also want to think about your past experiences with therapy (if any) and how you felt about those. Come as you are, and we’ll take it from there.
How long will I need therapy?
The length of therapy varies depending on your needs, goals, and the challenges you’re facing. Some clients work through short-term goals in a few sessions, while others may engage in longer-term therapy. We will assess progress together and adjust the frequency or length of therapy as needed.
